Usahlah nak chong pasal Proton:
Konon tidak naikkan harga kereta lain ...
Yesterday,
Mahathir tried to defend Proton again by insanely saying that Proton
was not the reason why other cars in Malaysia was expensive.
His reason was that import taxes on cars had existed before Proton and this was the reason - not Proton.
However,
Mahathir forgot that just before Proton was introduced, he had
substantially raised excise duties for other cars by THREE FOLD -
immediately causing all other car brands to be expensive.
In 1998, he again raised car taxes for other non-Proton brand substantially.
Perhaps Mahathir "forgot" or he is lying again?
He
also forgot that he imposed APs on cars that articially limited
supplies of non-Proton cars so the cars of other brands also became more
expensive.
Those
who remember the early 1980s can tell you that car prices rose
substantially during those few years when Proton was introduced.
"I
recall buying a brand new Mazda 1.5 hatchback for RM16,500 in 1982 but
when I bought a Proton 1.3S in 1988, an inferior car to the Mazda in
terms of comfort, space and performance six years later, the price had
gone up to nearly RM26,000 or about 60% more – everything else in the
same range was considerably more expensive." wrote By P. GUNASEGARAM,
former business writer for The Star.
Like this also, Mahathir wants to lie?
Since
2009, the government had been reducing these taxes with various
measures including abolishing import tax (not excise) on cars from Japan
and also replaced the 10% sales tax with 6% GST.
It
had also given almost full-tax exemption on cars that are classified as
Energy Efficient Vehicles so certain higher-priced car models are
comparable in price with other countries such as the BMW 330e, Prius and
the Honda CRZ (which became expensive again after the exemptions were
limited to CKD units).

Dia marah pada Nazri ...
Yesterday,
Mahathir was angry at Tourism Minister Nazri Aziz and sarcastically
said that Nazri can afford to buy imported luxury cars thus Nazri had
criticized Proton.
I am not sure what Mahathir means by imported luxury cars. Do you mean cars such as the ones below?
Market share jatuh masa dia PM
Yesterday, Mahathir continued to blame Najib government for policies that led to the decline of Proton.
However...
Proton's
market share had started to dive - especially bad during the last 3
years of Mahathir's reign as Prime Minister where it fell 20 points
market share in his last 3 years as Prime Minister
So whose government's fault is that, Mahathir?
Or it was not the fault of the government but the mismanagement of Proton under your care and its inability to compete?
Still want to blame Najib?
