'Tengku Mahkota never intervened'

KUANTAN: It is irresponsible to drag the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang into an alleged khalwat (close proximity) case involving Dr Badrulamin Bahron, being investigated by the State Religious Council (Jaip).
Tengku Mahkota's close aide told the New Straits Times that Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah never had the intention to intervene.
The officer denied reports by a news portal quoting Badrulamin as saying that Tengku Abdullah had intervened in the matter.
Badrolamin also claimed that Tengku Abdullah had directed his right-hand man to meet him (Badrolamin) to get his version of the incident and to discuss the matter with his lawyer.
To these claims, the officer said Tengku Mahkota had never asked his "right-hand man" to meet Badrulamin or expressed his intention to intervene.
The source said Tengku Abdullah had only asked his officer to check who was the Parti Keadilan Rakyat leader caught for allegedly committing khalwat with a married woman at a hotel in Balok on Saturday.
"He (Tengku Abdullah) made the request through another officer before leaving for Seoul to seek treatment on Saturday night," said the officer, who declined to be named.
"What happened on Monday was that Badrulamin and his lawyers had joined Tengku Mahkota's officer at a restaurant together with another state PKR leader.
"Never in the friendly chat that the officer had said that Tengku Mahkota would intervene in the issue."
