Chong Chieng Jen intriducing Wong Lim Wei and Christina Chiew
DAP parade Batu Lintang and Padungan candidates?
KUCHING – DAP two young potential candidates, Wong King Wei, a lawyer and Christina Chiew, a Processor engineer was with Sentosa State Assemblyman, Chong Chieng Jen this afternoon at the press conference.
When asked if the two are going to be candidates, Chong said, “Yes, potential candidates,” but did not revealed where they would be standing.
Wong King Wei, 31 joined DAP in 2006 and had started his own legal firm six months ago.
He is married with two young children and read laws at University of London.
Kin Wei said he had been interested in politics especially the political career of DAP leader, Lim Kit Siang.
Chiew aged 26 is single had a Master degree in Resource Chemistry. She joined DAP a year ago.
She works in an industrial company at Muara Tabuan and is the Special Assistant to State Assemblywoman for Pending, Violet Yong.
Both Chew and Wong are tight-lipped over where they would be standing. Chong said the names of the candidates would be announced soon by party leaders.
Wong Kim Wei who is the secretary for DAP Batu Lintang branch is expected to replace Batu Lintang DAP Assemblymen, Voon Lee Shan.
Voon had been engineered out by Sarawak DAP Chairman, Wong Ho Leng and Secretary, Chong Chieng. It was engineered in such that he was disobeying party leadership.
He was asked to submit a show cause letter by the Central Working Committee in February 2010. Wong and Chong made statements similar to an open verdict. Voon could not reply and defend himself because he was warned to not discuss party matter outside. If he disoobeyed, another charge will be levied against him.
This is a typical manouvre by DAP against anyone outside the DAP working committee to oust and replace people without a recourse for the member or position holder. The DAP's power structure enable the manipulation to keep power within the monopoly of these working committee members.
Both Chong and Violet are on the state working committee. Despite their poor service records, they are able to change seats and promote their assistants.
The question Chong should have thought of before introducing Wong is whether he is a suitable candidate given his reputation as a RM5,000 lawyer. That is the exorbitant charge to open any legal file for clients, rich or poor. It usually range between none to RM1,500.
Then there is the question: Will Violet Yong's assistant, Christina be any better is servicing the constituency? An elected official poor service record could sometime be attributed to poor performance of their assistant.
